How membership works.

New members

Dues: Annual, billed once a year, starting at $45 per year. The amount depends on your membership level (see the options above).
Eligibility: Open to professional groomers, salon owners, mobile stylists, apprentices, and educators working in Maine.
Approval: First-time applications are reviewed and approved by the MPPGA board before membership is granted.

Annual renewal

Term: Membership runs for one year and renews annually.
Eligibility: Open to current members in good standing.
Renewal dues: Set each year and shared with you before your renewal date.

The standard

We back the PPGSA Standards of Care.

Every MPPGA member agrees to the PPGSA Standards of Care, Safety and Sanitation: a working framework for humane grooming, clean salons, and safe handling. The standards were written by groomers, for groomers, and they’re part of what membership means.

Who can join MPPGA?

Membership is open to professional groomers, salon owners, mobile stylists, apprentices, and educators working in Maine. If you groom in Maine, there’s a place for you here.

What happens after I apply?

Your application goes to the MPPGA board for review. Once it’s approved we email you a link to pay your annual dues, and your membership starts as soon as that payment clears. If the board can’t approve it, we’ll email you and explain why.

How long does board review take?

The board reviews applications as they come in. You’ll hear back by email either way, so there’s nothing you need to check on in the meantime.

Are my dues tax deductible?

MPPGA is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit, so dues are not deductible as charitable contributions. They may be deductible as an ordinary business expense instead. Your accountant can tell you how that applies to your situation.

When does my membership renew?

Membership runs for one year and renews annually. We send reminders by email ahead of your renewal date, and you can update your card or cancel any time from your member dashboard.

Do I have to appear in the public directory?

That’s your call. You set up your listing from your member dashboard and can pause it whenever you like. Your street address and personal mobile number stay hidden unless you choose to show them.

What am I agreeing to when I join?

Every member affirms the MPPGA Code of Ethics as part of the application, and again at renewal. You can read it in full before you apply.
